There are loads of things to do in and around Castlemorton and the Malvern Hills.

Walking is a favourite, enjoying the feel of the sun on your face and the wind at your back, as you stroll on the common or climb up the hills. The hills themselves are a magnet for all sorts of activities, for walkers, riders, cyclists, and hang gliders.

Despite the popularity of the hills, they are so large that there is plenty of room for everyone, and you never need feel comfined.

You can combine a walk on the hills with a visit to one of the local historic places, or Eastnor Castle with its fantastic deer park and maze. On Sundays in the summer you can watch live music at the Winter Gardens in Malvern, and there is usually something going on at the Three Counties Showground, which hosts a wide range of activities, from the annual three day show to quilt fairs, motorhome rallies, and antique fairs. The showground is about four miles away.

There are riding stables in Malvern, boat trips on the River Severn, quiet lanes for cycling, green lanes and footpaths for walking, and for those seeking more action, a range of festivals at Upton upon Severn and a full programme of events at Eastnor Castle and other venues.

Nearby are many country pubs and restaurants, with more sophisticated dining in the local towns. There's horseracing at Cheltenham, with the prestigious Cheltenham Festival at Easter. Two pubs, both serving food, are within easy walking distance of the cottage and as as added bonus the walk home is downhill all the way. There are other pubs a short drive or bike ride away.

One of the attractions for us is the wide variety of wildlife. Currently we have three pairs of buzzards in one of our trees, and we often see owls, moorhens, pheasants, foxes, badgers and herons.

The courtyard garden provides a relaxing place for a quiet glass of wine or cup of tea if you'd prefer to just let the world go by.
